After dinner, we did some shopping at Wangfujing for Olympic souvenirs where the girls picked out their favorite Olympic mascot characters. We also went looking for a convenient store to get some drinks and fruits, but turns out 7-11 isn’t quite as common in Beijing as it is in Taipei. We eventually found a snack shop [...] Our first night in Beijing, we walked over to Wangfujing (a huge shopping thoroughtfare), and ended up at a popular touristy Peking duck restaurant, Quan Ju De. The girls really enjoyed the meal. Ironically, their favorite ‘dish’ to eat was the skin that you wrap the duck in. We also learned that when you order apple [...] With all the Olympic games excitement, we decided to take the girls to visit Beijing. We were able to take a direct flight from Taipei to Beijing, although the route still went down to Hong Kong (without a stopover) which took longer than if it was straight across.
