One nice feature of our hotel room in Beijing was the spacious indoor balcony that looks over the inner courtyard. Before the girl’s bedtime, we relaxed there and enjoyed some fresh fruit and snacks, while the girls provided their own [...] After a short break at the hotel, we headed out to Houhai for some dinner and shopping. The restaurant we ate at was deliciously spicy. We had fun walking through the different shops and trying out the snacks and [...] On the ride back to Beijing, we stopped at a fruit stand in the countryside to get some fresh fruit. We had originally planned on going to the Ming Tombs, but figured we would be too tired after climbing the Great Wall. There was a bit of traffic once we got into the city, but our [...] Thanks to Auntie Ruth, we hired their taxi friend to drive us to the Great Wall at Mutianyu. Our plan was to hike to the top and take the tram back down. It wasn’t until we were halfway up the steps TO the Great Wall that we realized we could have taken the tram up and [...] |
