This trip to Santa Barbara, we discovered the Harbor House Inn which is on the beach-side of town and had a reasonably priced suite (but without a door in between the bedroom and living room). The girls made a tent out of sheets to play in. After packing up, we took some pictures out front, before heading out for our final day. [slideshow]

We spent most of the day at Alameda Park and the garden next to it. The girls had lots of fun chasing butterflies and discovering the pond with lots of red-eared slider turtles! We enjoyed our picnic lunch and the girls tired themselves out running around the huge playground. [slideshow]

Continue reading Santa Barbara Vacation – Day 2

After our one-day trip to Big Bear, we continued our SoCal vacation with a drive across town to Santa Barbara. Our first activity was to join in the Kite Festival. We picked up a couple of kites for the girls which they were excited to try out. [slideshow]

The next morning, we rented a beach-cycle to ride along the beach path. The girls got to sit in the back enjoying the ride, soaking up the sun and taking pictures along the way. We stopped at the playground, a resort and a local grocery. And then went to the north end to have lunch. [slideshow]

After lunch, we headed to the beach to build sandcastles (unfortunately, the weather had cooled so we couldn’t go in the water). Daddy showed the girls how to make ‘drip sculptures’. [slideshow]
