NorCal Vacation - Day 5

For our last day, we had a change of pace, with our friend Pauline bringing over her kids to swim in our hotel’s indoor pool. For breakfast, they brought some hot coffee and delicious homemade chocolate-chip banana muffins. The kids had a blast together in the pool, and the parents got some extended and mostly uninterrupted sharing time.

Afterwards, we headed over to the airport (SFO) to drop off our car rental and catch a quick flight back home. Fortunately, NorCal traffic isn’t anything like SoCal, so we were able to make everything smoothly, including a short tram ride to the terminal. [slideshow]

NorCal Vacation - Day 3

Day Three started off at the Ferry Building, with some delicious snacks, including Elise’s new favorite food, salami cones from Boccalone.

We then had a mix-up finding our ferry launch to Alcatraz. But thanks to some steady thinking from mommy and a quick trolley ride to the right pier (33, NOT immediately outside Ferry Building), we eventually made it to The Rock. This was Juliette’s favorite stop of the trip, you can check out Ju’s Alcatraz photo tour.

Afterwards, we had to spend some more time eating at the Ferry Building, getting MORE salami, and some tasty seafood stews and oysters at Hog Island. We finished off the day in J-Town with noodles at Mifune (another Chik rec.) and an unplanned shopping frenzy at the 100-yen Daiso store. [slideshow]

NorCal Vacation - Day 1

We started off our Northern California vacation with a 6-hour drive up the I-5. We randomly ran into some old friends at one rest stop. Had a bit of car-sickness at another. Overall, we survived the road trip up (with the help of some self-installed vehicle tech upgrades).

After checking into our hotel, we settled into our digs for the next few days. Then we headed out to meet up Rebecca’s uncle and cousins for some Pizza Antica. [slideshow]

Emmanuel’s Asia Trip

Emmanuel went on a business trip to Asia in May. As usual, lots of time spent in meetings and transporting between different cities and more meetings. This time, got to make more use out of Skype with Video. Unfortunately, not much food exploration or shopping. Did get to meet up with some friends and family. [slideshow]
