We had our last official family reunion party of the trip, this time celebrating Fred and Toby’s August birthdays. Afterwards, everyone made use of the house’s great location and layout with some swimming, fishing and general lounging.
In the evening, Emmanuel’s parents watched the kids, while we headed out for some izakaya at Tokkuri-Tei [yelp]. [slideshow]

We started off the Sunday with the kids making Chinese onion pancakes which we had for breakfast the following day. But we couldn’t help to taste some of their hard work.
Later that day, we joined some of the Fan clan in visiting Emmanuel’s uncle’s gravesite to pay our respects and to remember those that have already passed on.
We ended the day with another reunion party, this time at Auntie Carol’s condominium complex where the kids got to swim, and we all enjoyed lots of catered Hawaiian food. [slideshow]

Because of jetlag, the day started off very early, with some fishing and playing on the beach, which was literally steps from our backyard.
We then headed into downtown for the wedding rehearsal of Emmanuel’s cousin Samuel and his fiancee Christine. Elise was excited to play her part in the ceremony as the Flower Girl. Afterwards, we were invited to the Waioli Tea Room for the rehearsal lunch, which was followed up with a stop at Waiola Shave Ice.
In the evening, we had an impromptu family reunion as most of Emmanuel’s family had arrived for the wedding the next day. [slideshow]

We started off with an early morning flight out of LAX. After arriving in Hawaii and meeting up with Emmanuel’s parents, we were welcomed at our rental house by Honolulu PD (we inadvertently set off the home alarm while waiting impatiently for the house keys).
Once we had all settled in, we did some shopping downtown to stock up on food and gear up on snorkeling and fishing gear. Elijah finished off the evening with some late night fishing off our back porch. His first catch was a little less than impressive. [slideshow]
